Languages

The interface language and each book's languages are different things. Rhema keeps them apart — and spellcheck honours every one.

The interface

Rhema opens in English on first run and switches language in one click under View → Language: Greek, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Romanian, Hungarian, Korean, Russian, Turkish — plus English itself, and Canadian French and European Portuguese as separate menu entries. Greek is first-class: « » quotes, Greek hyphenation, Greek plurals throughout.

The book’s languages

A book — a collection — can be written in more languages than the interface speaks. Edit → This book’s languages… opens the picker: choose the languages the book itself is written in.

The book-languages picker

Pick two and the book is bilingual; the picker shows both, with a primary language on top.

Union spellcheck

Why declare them? So that correctly spelled foreign words are never marked wrong: a word is left alone if any language you pick here knows it. Suggestions and quotes follow the primary language.

Spellcheck flags, per language

Edit → Spellcheck Language sets the default for books that haven’t declared their own. And a word you want to stay quiet forever: right-click it → add to dictionary.

Next: import & export — bring the backlog in, send the book out.
